File the Appeal Now
If you have received notification that you have been denied unemployment compensation benefits, file the appeal immediately! The appeal does not have to be formal but can be as simple as the following: I disagree with this decision and wish to file an appeal. File the appeal on the form provided, if any, or on a blank sheet of paper and send it through the U.S. Postal Service, or snail mail. The reason for this is that there is a time period within which the appeal must be filed and the postmark will prove the mailing date. Many states allow appeals to be filed through email, on-line or faxed but the problem is with the date/time stamp, which could be questioned. However, nobody will question the postmark on an envelope. File the appeal immediately. You have plenty of time to prepare your defense for the hearing.
My name is Jack Prince and I have 15 years experience with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Labor and Industry in the Bureau of Unemployment Compensation. Most recently, I worked as an unemployment claims examiner. I worked in a field office and dealt directly with unemployed workers and understand their feelings, and sometimes distress, over losing their jobs. I have participated in many hearings and know how the hearing proceeds. Also, as an unemployment compensation claims examiner, I prepared my cases with the intent to win them if they were appealed. Thus, I know the ins and outs of preparing a defense. Please understand that uc claims interviewers sometimes are new to the job and are not knowledgeable about all the unemployment compensation laws; therefore, they do not gather all the necessary information needed to deny uc benefits. That's why the uc examiner must attempt to get more and better information regarding the case. But, because of the caseload and time constraints, uc examiners may not be able to gather the necessary information needed to get an airtight case. My strategies capitalize on these 'mistakes' and the unemployment compensation claim denials that are just outright wrong. Because of this there are very few airtight cases.
