Even if you are not receiving unemployment checks, you should contact your mortgage agent before falling behind in your mortgage and, if you have not already done so, do it now.  The problem won't go away just by ignoring it.  Contact one of the agencies below.

     Non-profit, HUD-approved credit counseling service.

2.  Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) (800) 822-1174

     This agency has many programs to help avoid foreclosures.

3.  Pennsylvania Bankers Association (800) PA-BANKS

     Responsible banks and lenders will work out a payment plan.

Requirements:

1. Owner-occupied

2. Loan held by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac

3. Qualifying income

4. Amount owed not more than 105 per cent of current value

5. No cash to pay other debts

6. Delinquent or current but at risk of imminent default

7. Mortgages made prior to January 2, 2009 only

8. Mortgage payment, including escrow, no more than 31 per cent of monthly gross income

9. Primary residence
