UNEMPLOYMENT IN THE NEWS
The unemployment rate jumped to 6.5% in October. And some forecasters expect it to hit 8% to 8.5 % sometime next year! There have been over 1,000,000 jobs lost so far this year. Be prepared for a long period of unemployment and, for some of you, no money when the extension(s) run out.
As of November 22, 2008, the 4-week average of initial claims being filed was 518,000, an increase of 11,000 from the previous week's revised average of 507,000.
