Why don't you offer a
money-back guarantee?
ANSWER: I spent15 years
accumulating these strategies. The price paid for this product is small in
comparison. Also, since this is not necessarily a physical product, but
information, there is no control over how it is used.

In which state do I
file for benefits?
ANSWER: Normally, you file your
unemployment claim in the state in which you reside. However, if all of your
wages are in another state, you would probably file against that state. If you
have wages in numerous states, decide which state you wish to file against--the
one that gives the best benefits for your situation. Physically go to that state
and call in your unemployment compensation claim. If you don't call from that
state, you may be required to file a combined wage claim using your state of
residence, which could result in lower benefits.

How can I tell when
my check was mailed?
ANSWER: Contact the unemployment
office by phone or use the methods listed in your handbook. In Pennsylvania you
can call the PAT number, the number you use to file your claim, and immediately
dial 1-2-1. The computer will tell you when your check was mailed and how much
it was. If this does not seem correct to you, immediately contact the
unemployment office.

How do I report my
unemployment compensation benefits on my tax form?
ANSWER:
The end of January or the beginning of February you should receive a
1099-G which states the amount of UC benefits you received and the amount of
income tax you had withheld, if any. Use these figures under unemployment
compensation on the tax form. Be sure to use the amount of income tax withheld
because this is a credit against the total benefits you received. Keep the
1099-G as it contains other information you may need to file your Federal
taxes.

When
you collect unemployment, do you get paid for the holidays?
ANSWER: A lot of people think along this same line.
Unemployment is on a weekly basis, not a daily basis. This is why you normally
cannot collect benefits if you only miss one day. You do not file for that one
day but for the entire week. It is based on how much you earn that week. It
doesn't matter what day is in the week; you get paid anyway. However, if you are
asking whether or not you can collect benefits if you are off for the holiday
only and don't get paid for it, that's another thing. But it still goes on what
your benefit rate is and how much you earned for that week.

Can I file for an
unemployment claim if my long term disability has expired?
ANSWER: Are you talking about workers' compensation or
sickness? If workers' compensation, in PA, you can file a claim and, if not
eligible, can request an alternate base year. See workers’ compensation. If it's
sickness and you are able and available for work, you may be eligible if you
have enough credits in the base
year.

Can I work part time
and still collect unemployment?
ANSWER: Yes and no. If
you worked only part time during your base year, or a majority of it, those
hours become your new full time work
week. However, if you had been working full time and have had your hours cut
back or are working a new job, you could be eligible to collect benefits based
on your full time job. See working part
time.
